Thousands of cat lovers are familiar with Marilyn from the twice-monthly articles she writes for Catster as well as her previous 9 year association with Cat Fancy Magazine when she wrote their monthly cat behavior columns. She also contributes articles to such popular publications as Cats USA and Kittens USA.
Additionally, her book, Naughty No More!, has won numerous awards including the Tidy Cats Feline Behavior award and Muse Medallion in the Cat Writers Association 2011 Communication Contest and the 2012 About.com Readers Choice Award for best cat behavior book. She has earned the respect of her peers and is asked to contribute articles to prominent professional journals, including Catnip, the Tufts University publication, and Animal Behavior Consulting: Theory and Practice, the IAABC journal.
Marilyn is a sought-after guest speaker, who often demonstrates her training techniques by showcasing shelter cats during her lectures and workshops. Among the many presentations she gives each year, Marilyn spoke at CatCon in Los Angeles, and the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters during their annual conference.
Additionally, The Cat Coach, LLC® offers in-person and online seminars and cat behavior classes. She teaches cat behavior telecourses for companion animal professionals through Raising Canine, a respected professional training organization. She also offers a cat behavior webinar through the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).
Marilyn is acknowledged as one of the foremost behavior experts on Bengals, Savannahs and other domestic cats who have recent wild cat ancestors and spearheads coordinated rescue work in California for these beautiful felines.
Based in Northern California, Marilyn donates her expertise to the Peninsula Humane Society, which has honored her for her efforts to keep cats from being surrendered unnecessarily due to fixable behavior problems.
Marilyn, a graduate of University of California, Davis and San Jose State University (MA), is certified through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She is the former chair of the Cat Division and former member of the board of directors of the IAABC.
